Here is a short extract from book 3…
Long Ago
A band of brave knights travelled on a long and dusty road.
‘Father! They are returning,’ the young girl shouted, pointing out across the field.
‘At last! Let’s go down to greet them. I hope they were successful in their mission.’
The knights entered through the castle gate and were approaching the Great Hall when the pair arrived.
‘We are glad for your return. Do you have it?’
‘Yes, we do,’ said the Knight Commander as he dismounted his horse.
As he spoke, a wooden box was being taken into the Great Hall. To one side was a small alcove with a solid stone table…book…
Moving closer, the monk reached inside the box, took hold of the Hourglass and placed it on the table. At this moment, everyone in the room was filled with awe. The young girl came forward to inspect the Hourglass.
‘It has a ball spinning within it,’ she observed.
‘Yes, it does,’ said the monk. ‘But it is more than just a ball. Look closer and tell me what you really see!’
The child approached the table and looked closer into the Hourglass. Her eyes lit up when she realised the revolving object was more than a ball – it was their planet. ‘Why is Valantri in the Hourglass?’ she asked the monk.
‘Whatever planet or asteroid body the Hourglass is on, an image of the body will be seen spinning inside the Hourglass.’
‘Hmm!’ pondered the child as she gazed at the Hourglass.
